Zabalegui Dental Clinic
Dental prosthesis specialists
We are experts in prosthodontics, a dental specialty dedicated to the restoration and reconstruction of teeth and adjacent tissues, with the aim of improving both the function and aesthetics of the mouth.
Prosthodontists are dental professionals who have completed three additional years of study after their dental degree and specialise in visualising, planning and executing advanced oral rehabilitation and aesthetic treatments. They use a combination of clinical skills and advanced technology to assess your oral condition, understand your aesthetic and functional needs and desires, and develop a personalised treatment plan.

Fixed dental prostheses
Fixed prostheses can be applied to implants or teeth. On the one hand, the former requires surgery to place the implants, making it a quick and easy option.
At our dental clinic in Bilbao, we work with the following dental prostheses.
Fixed prosthesis on implants
With this option, instead of being placed over natural teeth, they are supported by previously placed dental implants.
Dental implants are used as a solid foundation for placing fixed dental prostheses. Prosthodontists strategically plan and place implants to provide support for dental restorations, thereby restoring the function and aesthetics of the mouth in a lasting way.
Fixed prosthesis on teeth
This technique involves restoring natural teeth by placing fixed dental prostheses, such as crowns, bridges, or porcelain veneers. These restorations are cemented onto natural teeth to improve the function and aesthetics of the mouth. There are two types of fixed prostheses on teeth:
- Dental inlays: these are usually pieces of ceramic or composite that are used to replace part of a lost tooth. One of the advantages of this conservative treatment is that it adheres to the tooth, replacing the damaged part. This means that no grinding is required.
- Fixed dental bridge: used to replace missing teeth with crowns. Their great advantage is that they can replace teeth permanently without the need for surgery. However, two teeth (abutments) that the patient still has must be filed down in order to replace a tooth.
Removable dental prosthesis
Removable dental prostheses, also known as dentures, are metal structures composed of artificial teeth. Removable prostheses can be complete or partial.
Removable protheses are a flexible option if you have lost several teeth or need a temporary or provisional restoration. Prosthodontists design and manufacture customised removable dentures, which can be taken out and put back in as needed, providing comfort and functionality for your mouth.
At Clínica Zabalegui dental and facial medicine, we carry out a personalised study with the aim of treating you in a unique way and thus being able to meet your specific needs.
Complete removable protheses
It is used in patients who have no teeth and who cannot have implants fitted. This type of prosthesis is supported by the mucosa.
Removable partial denture
This prosthesis is supported by the teeth and mucosa. Its use is focused on patients with missing teeth who cannot have implants.

Prosthetic rehabilitation
Prosthetic rehabilitation consists of treating patients who have suffered tooth loss or significant tooth wear. In general, mouths in very poor condition are rehabilitated in order to fit a dental prosthesis that can restore both the appearance and functionality of the mouth.
