Why did you choose this profession?
By vocation. I have always been interested in health sciences. After studying medicine, I was hesitating between specialising in stomatology or dermatology. My brother Borja and my partner Jaime had already completed their stomatology studies, and my grandfather and uncle were dentists. In the end, I opted for stomatology, and then trained and specialised as a periodontist.
You are a teacher. What advice do you usually give your students?
May they continue learning every day of their lives and, above all, may they enjoy their profession, which is very beautiful.
What is the most satisfying aspect of your job?
The most rewarding part of my job is seeing my patients’ satisfaction, especially in the most complex cases. When a patient says to you, ‘I would do it again, this is priceless’ or ‘It has been one of the best decisions of my life,’ it gives meaning to the effort that both the patients and the entire team put in.
A book?
The Physician, by Noah Gordon.
And... A place to get lost?
A holiday with my family, preferably skiing.
